Redesigning your garden may seem like a daunting task if you have been left with practically a jungle in your backyard. Perhaps you’ve moved into a new house and the yard has become a refuse tip or simply overgrown with thorny bushes and weeds. Whatever your reasons for considering landscape design, renovating your garden can be a dream come true when it’s complete. It can provide a haven to retire to when you’ve had a hard day. Continue on for more information.

Stripping The Garden Down

Turning your garden into a blank canvas to create upon is an important step. You should decide what you’d like to keep, like the trees if there are any and features like ponds or stone ornaments like bird baths or statues. For everything else, get rid of it and leave just the grass and soil behind. Sometimes, the grass and soil is of such bad quality, it may be necessary to bring in manure and astroturf or new grass seeds to create new areas.

Tailor Your Garden

For those with big gardens, you have a much easier task when it comes to designing your garden as you have more room to fit in everything you’d like. However, if you have limited space or a garden with a long profile, then you may have to turn to more abstract designs. It’s also important to determine the reasons for your garden. If it’s for kids, then open areas to play in will be preferable to potentially dangerous pond areas and delicate statues. On the other hand, for adults, these things may be relaxing and enjoyable to watch.

Legality And Obstructions

Sometimes, there may be legal issues at hand that will stop you from carrying out certain renovations. For example, if you have a tree in your garden, but it hands predominantly over someone else’s garden, it may be your neighbor’s decision as to whether you can remove it or not. Furthermore, erecting buildings or tall trees that would obstruct your fellow resident’s views of the area would also a hairy issue.
