This all depends on what type of budget you have and where you would like to stay. If you are more set on enjoying the Barcelona nightlife then you should stay closer to the old quarter where some of the best bars and clubs are situated. If, however, you prefer to see the architecture then you should be able to stay pretty much anywhere in the city.

Barcelona has a world-class transport system so getting around shouldn’t be an issue at all. If you prefer to stay outside of the main city then you may wish to hire a car. Here you will find beautiful villas where you can relax away from the hullabaloo of the city. These villas provide you with all the comforts that you would come to expect from top class accommodation and you will really feel as though you are getting away.

Once you find that you are settled in then you can take in the city’s heritage and architecture. The most famous architect to emerge from Barcelona is Antonio Gaudi. You will find his structures all around the city and they are not that hard to spot. Some have tried to copy him, but nobody has managed to beat his unique style. His most famous pieces of architecture are the Parc Guell and the Sagrada Famillia.

If you are interested in something a bit older then you have to see the Gothic Cathedral in the old Gothic quarter. In this area you will find a feast of ancient architecture that will have you clicking away with your digital camera until you either run out of memory or battery. You can recharge your camera and bodily batteries when you get back to your hotel. It doesn’t really matter where you decide to stay as long as you are happy with your accommodation.

If you are not too tired from a long day of sight-seeing then you should leave your hotel early and head on over to the MACBA (museum of modern art) where you will be inspired by some of the most amazing pieces to grace our presence in the last few centuries. Spain is famous for some of the world’s best painters and sculptors so this is another must-see. Once you are done here, you can pop next door to the CCCB. You should find an exhibition that tickles your fancy.

If you are serious about Barcelona then you should book soon. Peak season is quite hard to get into if you leave it too late so if you want the best holiday apartments, apartment rentals or hotels then you should get on a travel site quite quickly.
