British Museum London is located in London and is a museum of the human history and culture. The collections of British Museum is more than 7 millions artifacts, which are amongst the leading and most wide-ranging all across the world and start off from each and every continent, illustrating as well as documenting the account of human culture from the start up to the present time.
British Museum London was set up in the year 1753, and is principally based on the huge collections of the scientist and the physician Sir Hans Sloane. This museum was first opened for the public in the year 1759, on 15 January in Montagu House, which is located in Bloomsbury, and on the location of the present building of British Museum . The expansion of the museum over the subsequent 200 yrs has resulted into the formation of numerous branch institutions, and the earliest being British Museum London (for Natural History), which is located in South Kensington and formed in the year 1887. A few objects in this collection includes the remarkable the Elgin Marbles that are brought here from the Parthenon, which are the objects of extreme controversy and demands restitution to the countries of their origin.
Until the year 1997, while the British Library (formerly focussed on the Round Reading Room) shifted to a new-fangled site, the British Museum was only one of its kinds in that site; it housed both a national library and a national museum of antiquities within the same structure. This museum is a non-departmental and has a public body, which is sponsored by the Department for Media, Culture, and Sport, moreover similar to any of the national museums, which are located in the United Kingdom; British Museum London has no charges or admission fee. Since the year 2002 the administrator of this museum is Neil MacGregor.
The British Museum was founded around 250 yrs ago, like an encyclopedia of art and of nature. These days it no longer hosts collections of the natural history, along with the books and the manuscripts it one time held now shape part of the self-governing British Library. British Museum London on the other hand preserves the universality of the museum in its collected works of artifacts, which represents the cultures of both the world, modern and ancient. In addition, the original collection of the museum of the 1753 has developed to more than thirteen million artifacts at museum, almost 70 millions at the Natural History Museum as well as 150 millions at the British Library.
The renowned Round Reading Room was designed by the famous architect Sydney Smirke, and was opened in the year 1857. For around 150 yrs researchers arrived at this reading room for consulting the vast library of the Museum. The Reading Room was later closed in the year 1997 while the national library (generally the British Library) was shifted to a new-fangled building, which was located at St Pancras. These days it has been malformed into the huge Walter and Leonore Annenberg Centre and contains the Paul Hamlyn Library of books regarding the collections of the Museum, which is kept open to all of its visitors.

Most luxury vacations to London England will offer you everything that the tourists do, such as visiting the Tower of London, Buckingham Palace and the like. While this is fine, it can be a bit ‘samey’ if you have visited London before, and if you like the city but want to experience something a bit different to the usual tourist route.
