Those who visit Spain have a wide choice of places to choose from. If the tourist wants to spend his time on the beach, there are long beaches; if he wants to spend time on the top of a mountain, he can do so. If he wants to visit places of historical importance, there are many such places. Most of the antique constructions are centuries old and they have a history of their own. The government of Spain has preserved these monuments. Let us visit some of these historical palaces.

Lerma Ducal Palace:

This palace believed to have been constructed in the year 1601 under the guidance of the famous architect Francisco de Mora is located in the Lerma town of Spain. According to the documents available with the historians, this palace is believed to have been constructed as per the orders of the Durke of Lerma. The palace is located on the bank of a great river. It has fountains, home for the prince and other members of the royal family. This is one of the few palaces which have seven chapels on its premises. The palace was in fact considered one of the master works of that era; of course it continues to be so even today. It is stunningly beautiful. The huge door made of walnut has 520 nails made of bronze.  On the top of the main door, the decorations of the king are exhibited. The interior of the palace has beautiful arches. Normally palaces have two towers. But the palace of Dukes is an exception; it has four towers indicating the authority of the Duke over his subjects.

Castril Palace:

The city of Granada has many things to offer a tourist. It has renowned churches, castles and many other monuments. Castril Palace is one of the masterly works which a visitor will never miss. Also called House of Castril, it is built in the traditional Renaissance architecture. Of course now Granada’s Archaeological Museum is housed in this palace. According to historians, the palace was built in the 16th century by a family called Hernando de Zafra. In fact, Hernando was instrumental in conquering the city from Muslims. He was also the secretary of the Catholic Monarchs. After its construction, the Palace has undergone several renovations and alterations. The palace is also popular for its aesthetic beauty. The palace is beautifully decorated with arches and some of the most outstanding works of art and artifacts.
